미세 암 조직을 조기 진단하고, 영상유도 수술로 완전 제거하는 신기술 논의
국립암센터는 오는 5월 28일 원내 국가암예방검진동 8층 국제회의장에서 'Seeing is Believing and Beyond'를 주제로 개원 13주년 기념 제8회 국제심포지엄을 연다.
이번 심포지엄에서는 크리스토퍼 컨택 박사(스탠퍼드대학), 데니얼 비그네론 박사(샌프란시스코주립대학), 세계 최초로 PET·MRI 등을 개발한 조장희 박사(가천의과대학), 존 프렌지오니 박사(하버드의대) 등 세계적인 선두 그룹 석학들이 모여 PET-MRI와 분자영상을 포함한 초정밀 영상기법을 통한 새로운 암 진단법 뿐 아니라 영상유도 수술로 완전히 제거하는 신기술들을 소개할 예정이다.
이진수 국립암센터 원장은 "미래 암 진단·치료 분야의 최첨단 기술을 소개하고, 주요 현안에 대한 심층적인 토론을 통해 암정복을 위한 새로운 패러다임을 제시하기를 기대한다"고 말했다.
한편, 국립암센터는 암 분야의 주요 현안에 대한 심층적인 토론을 통해 우리나라의 암 연구, 진료 및 국가암관리 수준을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 탐색하기 위해 2007년도부터 국제심포지엄을 열고 있다.
